As the saying goes, every dark cloud has a silver lining. Fans, coaches, and players alike need to agree with this concept, it looks like this might be a long season for rookie Guard C.J. McCollum. Just two days before he was to make his NBA debut in a pre-season match up, McCollum fractured his foot. This kind of news is entirely too familiar for Trail Blazer fans, early season injuries to would-be key players is far too common for this team. the good news is that at least the injury happened early in the year rather than in the middle of the season, and it was recently announced that he will not require surgery to repair the injury, but he will instead be flown to a medical facility in N. Carolina for a simple ultrasound procedure that helps stimulate bone growth. Terry Stotts has not given a specific timeline on the return of C.J., but he speaks optimistically. With any luck this won’t be a long term set back and the injury won’t be one that keeps reoccurring. Of course, this is one of those things that can’t be seriously predicted, only time will tell.
